Brandon and Khalid started LOKT because the hours that need coffee most are the hours a cup cannot survive. Everything built for those hours had quietly stopped being coffee.
THE ORIGIN
Why a coffee brand made a pouch, a carton and a bag.
LOKT began as a complaint. Brandon and Khalid are coffee people first, and the days that needed coffee most were the days a cup could not hold: the 5am gate, the third call in a row, mile 300 with both hands on the wheel. What was sold for those hours had stopped being coffee somewhere along the way. Synthetic caffeine. Candy flavor. A 16oz can standing in for a serving.
The obvious move was to make a supplement. We did not. A supplement asks you to accept the taste as the price of the function, and coffee has never worked that way for anyone who actually drinks it. So we set the roast first and let the format follow it. What shape it shipped in was the last decision, not the first.
That is why there are three things and not one. A pouch, a carton and a bag. Not three products chasing three categories, but one coffee standard asked to survive in three places a cup cannot go.

THE COFFEE STANDARD

RUNS THROUGH IT.
Medium-dark Arabica. The same sensory target in all three formats.
Medium-dark is a deliberate middle, not a default. Take the roast lighter and the cup goes thin the moment a pouch or a scoop of protein is asked to carry it. Take it darker and the whole thing collapses into ash, then needs sugar to climb back out. Medium-dark holds cocoa depth, a caramel edge and a roasted almond warmth, and it finishes clean instead of syrupy.
The caffeine is pulled from the bean rather than ordered from a lab catalog. Sweetness is kept low enough that the roast stays in front of it. Lightly sweet, never candy.
The three formats do not taste identical, because a pouch, a chilled carton and a cup you prepare are three different objects. They are recognisably the same coffee because they are built against the same roast.
